Houston Living: Funday at FM Kitchen

After a long morning-turned-afternoon of shooting content, my sister and I were both starving. Unsure of where to grab a bite to satisfy our empty stomachs, my sister did a quick Google search of cool, new places to eat inside the loop. Sure enough, we stumbled across FM Kitchen & Bar and eventually made our way to the new neighborhood spot.

It's a self-seating yet full-service restaurant and bar with a huge outdoor patio. As a sucker for bar games, such as jumbo jenga and cornhole, I was thrilled to see just how much space there was to eat, drink, and play outside. Although we opted to sit inside the bar (because Houston summers are ridiculous), I'll definitely kick back on the patio once Fall rolls around (or at least on a cooler summer night.)

FM Kitchen's menu is pretty standard -- burgers, sandwiches, ribs, wings. The kind of food you go for when you're absolutely starving and you just need a good meal that won't disappoint. After a recommendation from our server, I ordered the FM Burger with a side of cheese fries, and my sister went for the smoked ribs. "I could see the smoke when I pulled into the parking lot," she proclaimed. I don't know about you, but when we see smoke coming out of a food joint, we already know whatever they have cooking is going to be good.

And to our delight, the food was amazing. My burger was one of the best I've had in a while, and my sister loved her ribs. To top it off, we both sipped on a round of FM's watermelon mule, one of their many specialty cocktails. (Let's just say, if they sold it in Target, I'd buy it in bulk.) Aside from the cocktail menu, they also serve a variety of beer on tap for the brew lovers.

The servers were friendly and the atmosphere was welcoming, everything you'd expect from a Houston bar and eatery. With its spacious outdoor patio, delicious yet affordable food and drinks, and conveniently placed big screens, FM is a must-visit for every weekender looking for a fun time with friends. Plus, as football season quickly approaches, you may want to consider making it one of your go-to spots for game night.

If you're ever in the Heights and decide to stop in, let me know how you enjoy it!
